Hansens
– a story about keeping hold of principles
|
| |
The story of Hansen’s Ice Cream starts in 1922. Hans Hansen founded his dairy company and began manufacturing dairy ice cream.
Hansen’s dairy shop was one of the 1200 dairies in Denmark at the time. Ice cream had a much higher quality than it has today, partly because everyone used real cream, and the cream was organic in the old-fashioned sense, long before organic labels and government control.
As time went by, Hansen’s dairy developed into the company known as Frederiksborg Is. The concept of good-quality ice cream was the same as in 1922, but times changed. There were fewer and fewer of the original Danish ice-cream manufacturers, and factories grew and became mechanised. In 1997 Hans Hansen’s grandson, Hans Jørgen Eibye was able to sell the Frederiksborg Is brand.
