Hans Hansen first started making ice cream in Hillerød, North of Copenhagen, where he built a dairy in 1922. During the 1960s, the location became too small, so Arne Eibye Hansen, Hans Hansen’s grandson took over an old cooperative dairy in the nearby town of Jægerspris.
